Want to know the day it launches? Email support@codecraftednexusllc.com with the subject “LectureLens launch list” and we will let you know.
LectureLens uses your own AI accounts for transcription and tutoring, which the AI companies bill to you directly. At OpenAI’s published rate, speech-to-text is about $0.006 a minute (roughly $0.36 per hour of class). Anthropic usage for summaries and the tutor is billed by Anthropic and depends on how much you use it.
LectureLens is a desktop app for Windows, Mac and Linux (beta) that records your online class in HD, turns it into a searchable transcript and clear summary, and gives you an AI tutor that knows exactly what your instructor said.
Tap ⭐ when something is important and ❓ when you get lost, right while the class is running. Afterwards, ask the tutor about that moment. It explains it more clearly than the lecture did, and the video jumps to the exact spot. Everything is saved on your own computer.
Zoom, Teams, Meet, Canvas and more. LectureLens finds your class window automatically and records video and sound to your own drive. No bot joins your class.
Mark important and confusing moments live. A health light shows the recording is keeping up with the live class, so your marks land on the right second.
Ask a question and get a plain-language explanation that goes beyond the lecture, with buttons that replay the exact moments your instructor covered it.
Attach a screenshot, photo, PDF or text file of a problem. The tutor shows you which lecture moments teach each idea it needs, then guides you step by step.
Built for learning. For your own problems the tutor gives hints and checks your work, but does not hand over the final answer.
One click writes a quiz from your lecture. Every question links back to the moment it was taught, and you can export flashcards to Anki.
Build one study guide from all of a course’s lectures, with your ❓ moments first. Or ask a question that searches every lecture in the course.
One button walks through everything you flagged as confusing, one clear explanation each, with the clip to replay.
Search every lecture you have recorded. Title your lectures and group them by course. Study-notes PDF and review cards included.
Video, transcripts and chats live on your own computer, in the folder you choose. There is no LectureLens account and no cloud copy of your classes.
Scan a QR code and your summaries, quiz, flashcards and video open in your phone’s browser. No app to install, and it only works while your computer is on and on the same Wi-Fi.
Follow along with a running transcript during class, about 30 seconds behind. It uses extra minutes of your own OpenAI account, so it is off until you turn it on.
Save your notes as a Word document, a PDF, or Markdown that Notion and Obsidian open. Flashcards export to Anki.
Turn study notes into 12 languages with AI. Timestamps and formulas stay put, and you should still check key terms.
Finds the moments where a student seems to ask or answer. It reads the wording, not voices, so treat it as a guide.
Copy your lectures to an external drive or cloud-synced folder, and restore them on a new computer. Your API keys are never included.

Where the others are ahead: Otter and Notta caption a class live and have phone apps, Notta labels speakers by voice and translates into more languages, and Coconote has Android and web apps. LectureLens is built for studying a recorded class deeply and keeps your video and notes on your own computer. “Not checked” means we did not verify it for that company.
Sources: the pricing pages of Otter.ai, Notta and Fireflies, and the Coconote listing on toolradar.com, plus the Otter and Notta App Store listings and a Coconote review, all viewed October 14, 2026. These are other companies’ products and trademarks. We are not affiliated with them. Where others are ahead today: they can transcribe while the class is still running and have phone apps, which LectureLens does not yet.
Your computer: Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), macOS 13 Ventura or newer, or a 64-bit Linux desktop such as Ubuntu 22.04 (beta, newer and less tested than Windows and Mac). At least 4 processor cores (6 or more recommended), 8 GB of memory (16 GB recommended) and about 3 GB of free disk space for each hour of class at high quality. A Smooth recording mode is included for older computers.
Two AI accounts (pay as you go): an Anthropic API key for the tutor and summaries (Claude Sonnet or higher recommended) and an OpenAI API key for speech-to-text. These are developer API accounts with a little prepaid credit. A ChatGPT or Claude chat subscription does not include an API key. LectureLens shows you step-by-step links to create each key.
Mac and Linux note: recording a class’s sound on a Mac needs a free virtual audio device, and on Linux you pick the “Monitor of…” input for your speakers. LectureLens walks you through both. Windows records class sound automatically.
Yes. The transcript, the summaries and the tutor can all be wrong, and none of it replaces your instructor, your textbook or qualified human help. Use LectureLens to study and to find the right part of the lecture, and check anything important with your instructor or another qualified professional.
No, on purpose. For your own problems the tutor gives hints, explains the method with a different example and checks your steps. It will not write out the final answer.
That depends on your school, your instructor and where you live. Check your course policy first, and keep recordings private. Some places require everyone in a session to consent.
Optionally. Turn on live captions and a running transcript appears about 30 seconds behind the class. It uses extra minutes of your own OpenAI account. The full, more accurate transcript, summary and tutor are still made from the finished recording.
Yes. LectureLens records whatever is playing in a window or tab, so a class video on your school’s site works like a live class. If you already have the video or audio file, use Import a recording instead. One limit: video protected by copy-protection may record as a black screen with no sound.
Not a downloadable app. Recording needs a computer. To study, scan a QR code and your summaries, quiz, flashcards and video open in the browser on your phone or iPad. That works while your computer is on and on the same Wi-Fi.
One license key works on up to 3 of your computers, and you can move it from one to another.
On your own computer, in the folder you choose. To make transcripts and summaries, the class audio is sent to OpenAI and the transcript text to Anthropic using your own keys, as each of their terms describe.
A one-time purchase with a license key emailed to you, after a free 7-day trial with every feature. Buying will open when LectureLens launches.
LectureLens is coming soon for Windows and Mac, with a Linux beta. $50 one time, with a 7-day free trial.
